The Casper Soccer Club would like to welcome Don Maples as our new Director of Coaching.  Coach Maples will join us from Tallahassee, Florida, and will work closely with the coaches of the Casper Soccer Club.  We are excited to have Don share his expertise with our club.  

Coach Don Maples 

High School - The Knoxville, TN native graduated from Farragut High School in 1987, where he was a goalkeeper on two TSSAA State High School Championship squads and was also part of a club team that won three TSSA State Championship, representing TN in the USYSA National Championships held in Dallas, TX. 

College- A former student-athlete at Hiwassee College, Maples started in goal for the Tigers leading them to the conference championship, qualifying for the NJCAA National Championships.  As a freshman, Maples set an NJCAA record in Saves for a Game (1987 National Championship vs University of Miami), and GAA for a Season (.045), posting seven shutouts in 15 matches and being named Defensive Player of the Year.

Coaching - Don pursued a full-time coaching career in 2003 with the Knoxville Football Club as a professional staff coach, promoted to Director of Goalkeeping while also on staff with Tennessee State Soccer Association ODP.  His youth teams have won six State Championships, two Region 3 Finalist with many players matriculating to contribute to their NCAA and NAIA soccer programs.  Don was also the head coach of Women’s Soccer at NAIA Montreat College in Montreat, NC, and an assistant coach at NCAA Division 2 Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN with the women’s program.  In 2015 he joined Bay United Soccer Club in Panama City, Florida where he was the Director of Goalkeeping and Director of Advanced Training and College Recruiting.  In 2016, Don was named the FACA High School Coach of the Year while coaching Bay High School girls team in Panama City, Florida.  Coach Maples was also a finalist for Competitive Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2014.

Coach License - A nationally respected goalkeeping coach and clinician, Don holds a USSF “B” License, NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, NSCAA National Goalkeeper Diploma and is a USSF Coaching Instructor Certified to teach the new Grassroots Coaching courses. Coach Maples has also been on the ODP staffs with Florida, Alabama and Region 3.  Don holds a Bachelors in Sports Management with a minor in Business from the University of Tennessee where he graduated with honors in 2015. Don has completed a wide variety of additional coursework related to curriculum creation, implementation, and youth development. Coach Maples is also the owner/lead trainer of Clean Sheet Goalkeeper Academy.
